Ridding Judiciary of Corruption Should Top Onnoghen's Priority - Ochicha

Justice Walter Onnoghen, Chief Justice of Nigeria
Cross River State governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC in 2015 elections, Mr. Odey Ochicha has urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen to make ridding of corrupt judicial officers his top priority.

In a congratulatory message sent to the CJN on his appointment, Ochicha noted that Onnoghen should work to immediately expose corrupt judges and lawyers who have destroyed the reputation of the judiciary over the years.

He recounted that he declined from challenging his elections in court despite obvious irregularities because he hadn't confidence in Nigeria Judiciary.

The APC chieftain however expressed confidence that based on the antecedents of the Chief Justice, Nigerians should expect radical reforms in the judiciary in the next few months.

According to him "I want to congratulate my brother, Justice Onnoghen on his appointment and successful confirmation as the substantive CJN. We, from Cross River State are very proud of your achievements in the judiciary.

"The CJN has a major challenge which he must confront head on. The rate of corruption in the judiciary is alarming. To regain the confidence of the masses, he should work hard to rid the judiciary of corruption".

Commending President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate for the appointment and confirmation, he noted that "The President has favoured Cross River State in terms of career and noncareer appointments. It is left for the appointees to use their appointment for the greater benefit of Cross Riverians and Nigeria as a whole".
