Calabar Viewing Centre Tragedy: Ndoma-Egba, Eta, Ochicha Mourn Victims



Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the Natioal Vice Chairman of APC (South South) Ntufam Hilliard Eta as well as the governorship candidate of APC in the 2015 election, Mr. Odey Ochicha have described the loss of several lives at a viewing centre in Calabar, as tragic and unfortunate.

In their separate statements issued in Calabar, they decried the loss of lives while urging  relevant authorities to ensure proper assessment is done before granting approvals for business locations in the state.

According to Ndoma-Egba who spoke through his Special Assistant on Communication, Clara Braide, "I am sad and heartbroken at the way and manner the young and promising lives of the young men were lost through electrocution".

" I am deeply saddened at the loss of these promising lives at a time our nation and indeed the state is set to tap into the vast potentials of our vibrant young men and women for the greater good of our society. The incident is, indeed, a very sad development and dark chapter in the life of the state and the community where this incident occurred.

Ndoma-Egba also commiserated with the families of the victims of the tragedy, the Government and good people of the State.

"It is sad that the youngsters met their unfortunate deaths while engaged in a healthy innocent past time", the statement reads.

On his part, Eta who spoke through his media aide, Bassey Ita said that "I deeply mourn the horrific death of victims of the Nyaghasang electrocution yesterday. I equally pray God to give their families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss while wishing the demise peaceful repose in the Lord's bossom. Amen!".

While wishing those who survived the incident quick recovery Ochicha said that "I feel really sad. My heart goes to the families of those who loss their loved once in the tragic incident yesterday. I pray God to grant their souls eternal rest.

"I also commiserate with the Governor and Government of Cross River State. This should be a lesson for all of us especially relevant authorities to ensure properly assessment of every business location in the state before granting approvals"
