Ita Giwa, Prince Otu Denied Speaking With Ayade's Aides, Journalists About C'River Govt

Chieftains of the All Progressives congress, APC in Cross River State, Senators Florence Ita Giwa and Prince Bassey Otu have discribed as false, reports by social media aides to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State that they spoke during the two years anniversary of the administration in commendation of the government.

The two former senators who spoke exclusively to Fearless Reports on phone urged the general public to disregard such reports by the governor's media aides as they didn't speak with them or any journalist about the state government.

The report which has been trending on social media was first posted by Emmanuel Ulayi and shared widely by other social media agents of the government and some House of Assembly members including Hon. Peter Odey, representing Ogoja state constituency.

It quoted the dou as commending Ayade's administration for its people-oriented policies as well as his massive infrastructural development in the state.

The report alleged that they made the commendation in separate occasion in Calabar during the two years anniversary celebration of the Ayade's administration.

Rebuffing the claims, Ita Giwa, a former Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters to former President Obasanjo and one time Senator denied that she ever spoke with Ayade aides or any Journalist on the said issue.

Ita Giwa, a former appointee of Ayade who recently dumped the People's Democratic Party, PDP for the APC however said that she honoured an invitation by the state to be part of the may day celebration as well as a dinner award night organized to mark Cross River State 50th anniversary.

According to her, "First of all, I don't read those things but I'm hearing them. I don't even know how that came about. I don't know the kind of politics they are playing. In as much as I have admiration for Ayade, I didn't say those things.

"However, I have left PDP but that does not mean I'm going to be antagonistic towards him. If he does anything good, I will commend him like I've made some comment before I declared for APC. I will not withdraw those statements because I'm a mother.

"As of now, those things they are publishing did not come from me. I didn't say aything of such and nobody approached me during the match pass or dinner night for any press interview. So I don't know this kind of politics they are playing.

" I'm not an enemy to the government either. I was at the match pass and the dinner award night because as a mother, if I'm invited by the state I will attend"

She added that "I have been in politics for 26 years and my mother, the late Journalist was among those who fought for the creation of this state. So it is not out of place for me to join in the celebration of my state.

"But nobody in any of the events approached me for any discussion so I don't know who dreamt of all those things that they claimed I said".

While noting that she will not take any legal action against those speculating the falsehood, she said that she was really " humbled that they found her necessary to be used to promote the governor ".

She also reiterated that " I don't have any business with the PDP but I've business with the state. This is my state and if there's anyway I can support his tenure to do things in my state, I will support".

Similarly, Prince Otu, a former Senator and Chieftain of APC denied speaking with anybody and described the reports as absolute rubbish.

In his words "Please not me. I don't have anything to do with that. I'm a Pastor. I only pray for our leaders to do well. No comment, nothing. I don't even think it is me they were referring to.

"I'm not on social media, I have never been asked or confronted by anyone to speak on the program or whatsoever, I'm currently in Church, I'm as Pastor in Vineyard.

"So I don't know what whosever is talking about. The person is talking absolute rubbish, I don't know anything about it".
