The social media on Sunday came alive with controversies trailing the activities of Commercial Agriculture Development Program (CADP) in Cross River State after journalist turn farmer, Godshield Kanjal has described their activities in the state as "a scam."
Kanjal is known lately to have had dealings with CADP towards his farming dreams and so his opinions about the world bank assisted organization are held very high.
Kanjal, who is a known contributor to reports on national dailies in Nigeria including Sun Newspaper in a publication on his Facebook timeline remarked: "You see this CADPin Cross River state? (World Bank assisted) It is a scam."
When asked by one Arong Okon to buttress his facts, Kanjal said "I can't put them here." While threatening on the reports his has gathered so far about CADP saying "Watch out for the publication."
Also Inyali Peter who freelance for Premium Times alleged some officials of CADP in the state of duping unsuspecting farmers to the tone of N1,500,000.
"Arigor John Arigor let me help Kanjal. We're aware that you or a certain Arigor (Since I didn't see your face I'm not sure if it's your Arigor or another person) is allegedly giving people you claimed to have helped to get the grant N500,000k to forget about business of over N3m. Kanjal, although he's concentrating in his farm is a trained journalist and one of the best from Cross River. Wait, you will all be exposed soon."
"Godshield Kanjal my brother keep calm, very soon, I'll publish the fraud I've gathered so far going on there and many people will invited to EFCC on my invitation. Na real scam!"
And later went further to publish on his timeline: "In conformity to what Godshield Kanjal said yesterday, the fraud in Cross River CADP is legendary...."
Also, Beatrice Moko Ugbuji, Araga Kristiana Ijama, among others joined comments not only by concurring to Kanjal's assertion but have gone further to criticise activities of the agro body in the state as lacking credence.
But CADP CRS on Facebook, in a swift response remarked "Godshield I don't expect this from you. coming from you, oh no!!!."
Arigor John Arigor, a top representative of CADP, Cross River also expressing displeasure to the statement on his organization said "Kanjal can you give reasons for your assertion?. I am surprise you are the one saying this. Present your facts . I use to think you are a journalists. but this does not represent the organization you work for. Hope you know about investigative journalism."
