Education : Cross River Seeks Partnership With Japanese Govt

Cross River Government team with the representative  of the Japanese Embassy 
Cross River State government has moved to strengthen the education sector through a partnership deal with the Japanese Government.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Students' Affairs, Michael Abuo who led a team of stakeholders in the education sector to a meeting with the Japanese embassy in Abuja told Journalists that the state was seeking grants for research and development, scholarship assistance for students,  exchange programmes, teachers training amongst others.

Abuo noted that the education sector is a critical one that future as a top priority in the Governor Ben Ayade administration therefore the government was working round the clock to attract foreign exchange programmes to the state.

According to him, "We are wooing the Japanese government in interms of grants to boost our educational infrastructures in the state, scholarships and exchange programs.

"Already, we have been briefed of Scholarship for research especially the post graduates students,who wish to conduct research in Japan as well undergraduate students who wish to continue  their studies in Japanese  universities".

He added that "The exchange program for teachers which is a one year six Months intensive training programme  is a non degree programme, basically  for teachers  of primary and secondary schools.

"Interms of grants, we have been given details on how to access the Grass Root Grant Projects to the tune of a hundred thousand dollars per entry and directed the team to the Office of National Planning for Millions of Dollars in grants depending on our area of need".

In the team were Charles Eyong, Permanent Secretary of Cross River State Liason Office, Abuja and Temitope Adeniyi who representated Prof Angba of the Institute of Management Technology,Ugep.
