We're ready for LG election but... CROSIEC Chairman

CROSIEC Chairman, Dr. Mike Odey (L)  with the SA, Students'and youths mobilization, Michael Nku Abuo
The Chairman of Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, (CROSIEC) Dr. Mike Ushie has stated that the Commission was prepared to conduct local government elections in the state but have delayed it due to financial constrains.

Ushie stated this when Governor Ben Ayade Special Adviser on Students' Affairs and Youths Mobilization, Micheal Nku Abuo paid a courtesy visit to his office in Calabar yesterday.

He maintained that part of the reasons why the Commission has not conducted elections was because nine political parties have obtained court injunction restraining them from conducting elections because of the ongoing voter's registration.

The CROSIEC boss denied the rumour making the rounds on social media that the state government was not ready to conduct LG elections any time soon.

Earlier, the SA in his opening remarks said that the essence of the visit was to ascertain the preparedness of the Commission towards the conduct of the local government election.

Abuo pledged his commitment to synergize  with the Commission to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election.
