UNICAL VC Commissions FMPCSL 33 Rooms Hostel

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Zana Akpagu has commissioned a 33 Room Hostel Facility built by the Freedom Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited (FMPCSL). 

Speaking during the Commissioning ceremony, Prof Akpagu described the event as historic given the fact that it is the first hostel  project on campus undertaken by a private entity.

The Vice Chancellor said he was deeply impressed by the  concern exhibited by the Multi-Purpose Society as this will alleviate the burden of accommodation faced by Students.

Prof Akpagu who dedicated the project to the glory of God and service to humanity urged the intended beneficiaries, the Post Graduate Students to make good use of the building.
He charged  other Public and private entities within the Institution to emulate the gesture  of FMPCSL as this will ameliorate the burden of accommodation on campus.

The President of the Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society, Dr Enang Udah said the Society had to undertake the project to address the worrisome issue of accommodation faced by Students.

Dr Udah said that they had to key into the project and ensure its completion within one year considering the prominence, the Prof Akpagu  led administration attaches to building of hostels. 

The President also thanked the Prof Akpagu led administration for his support and encouragement which served as a catalyst for speedy completion of the project. 

He however lamented the lack of drainage around the hostel and called on the Vice Chancellor to assist in that regard.

The highpoint of the Occasion was the cutting of the tape and presentation of a memento to the Vice Chancellor by the Cooperative body.
