Fuel Crisis: States Should Corroborate FG's Effort---APC Chairman.

Ntufam, Hilliard Eta, APC South South Chairman
Worried by the sudden return of queues at petrol stations in parts of the country, National Vice Chairman, South South Zone of the governing All Progressives Congress, Ntufam Hilliard Eta has charged state government functionaries to support effort of the federal government geared towards addressing the lingering fuel crisis in the country.

Eta said the current fuel crisis could be blamed on the refusal or bluntness of state governments to put pressure on relevant stakeholders in the industry to demonstrate the sincerity, honesty and goodwill of the federal government for the welfare of the masses in the areas of fuel availability and affordability.

According to Eta, whose reaction was conveyed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Bassey Ita, '' if the state governments in concert with other relevant agencies of government including the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, put pressure on the product marketers in their respective states to especially sell petrol according to the official rates, we would have help solve the issues of long queues arising from artificial scarcity and price hike.

While commending the federal government for refusing to yield to pressure to increase pump price of petrol, the APC chieftain remarked that what the states should do was to insist that official rates apply and that hoarding and diversion should not be contemplated among marketers.

He said strict monitoring of the movement and sale of the product would ensure that petrol was available for every Nigerian.

The South South zonal APC Chairman also remarked that what the current crisis would bring to the society cut across economic and social strata.

"Apart from the untold hardship it brings, there are many cases of fire inferno because you have so many small small unregulated filling stations everywhere. And this therefore becomes a disaster lurking around the streets, homes and citadels'', Eta maintained.

He said his reaction to the issue is to further create awareness to Nigerians that the APC led government of President Muhammadu Buhari means well for their welfare and progress but that saboteurs were at work to cause them untold hardship as well as discredit the goodwill of the APC government.

Eta again charged state governors to ensure that the goodwill of President Buhari trickles down to the nooks and crannies of the country.

The APC leader also used the occasion to pour encomium on the  Nigerian Army for quelling the rebellious militant gang which killed over 16 people on the dawn of the new year.

Eta commended President Buhari for the timely directive to the military which saw to the killing of some of the militant leaders.
