BREAKING : Unical to introduce security and antiterrorism programme

The University of Calabar (Unical) has revealed plans to include “Security and Anti-Terrorism Studies” to its ever expanding curriculum.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Zana Akpagu who said this when he hosted the Commander, 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Calabar, Brigadier General I. Isa in his office, expressed the Institution’s commitment to every mutually benefitting partnership.

While acknowledging the 13 Brigade’s role in maintaining peace on campus, Prof.Akpagu informed his guest that the University has a history of a very cordial and mutually benefitting relationship with the Brigade.

In an earlier remark, the Commander 13 Brigade said that he feels highly honoured to be received by the University expressing his appreciation of the Vice Chancellor’s hospitality.

Brigadier General Isa also said though he had not met Prof. Akpagu before now, he has indeed heard and felt his impact within the University, in the Brigade and beyond, and expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the Brigade, to the Vice Chancellor for all his support.

The Commander who said he actually began his career in the military in Ikom, Cross River State, acknowledged the security challenges bedeviling the country and therefore considers it expedient to meet with heads of Institutions like the University to promote appropriate synergy.

According to him, the 13 Brigade and indeed the military is open to partnerships that will aid in tackling social issues as there come.
