APC Ward Congress Didn't Hold In Cross River, Party Chieftain Declares

A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Mr. Odey Ochicha has declared that contrary to report making the rounds, there was no ward Congress of his party in the state.

Ochicha in a statement issued in Calabar on Monday said that the exercise which was billed to hold on Saturday, May 5 was a sham as it didn't hold as scheduled.

The APC stalwart who was the governorship candidate of the party in the 2015 elections said that those claiming the congress held in the state are enemies of democracy and the state.

According to him, "The APC Congress in Cross River State was a sham. It never held. Those claiming it held are enemies of Cross River State and democracy".

The APC leader who is also the Chairman, Governing board of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo state stressed that the party must imbibe the spirit of internal democracy to avoid it suffering the same fate with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 elections.

"We all know what killed the PDP and APC should avoid it especially as we gear up for 2019 elections. One of the major differences between APC and PDP is the principle of internal democracy which allows every party member opportunity to express their interests. We can't afford to throw that away now.

The National leadership of our great party should disregard any report purporting that APC held congresses in the state. We will not accept anything other than a transparent, free and credible Congresses for the people to elect who they want as their leaders. The party belong to all of us not just one man or a few people.

Our dear party should always remember that equality, fairness, rule of law shapes democracy and not deceit, manipulations and brigandage".
