C'River : Buhari to commission Navy's 43-yr-old hospital today

Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Calabar

President Muhammadu Buhari will today, June 26 commission the just completed Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State, 43 years after construction work commenced.

The beautiful edifice is a 150-bed hospital located around the Calabar- Calabar round in the state capital city.

Foundation for the hospital according to sources was laid in 1975 and was left unattended to by past administrations until 2007 when the work resumed.

The reference hospital according to sources had been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

In related development, the state government has disclosed that during the visit, the President will commission the multi billion naira automated rice seeds and seedlings factory in Calabar, reputed to be the first in Africa.

It is also a seed multiplication centre that produces high yielding, disease resistant and vitaminized rice seedlings.
