BREAKING : APC writes INEC, explain why Etim John led Exco is barred

The National leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC has denied rumours and wild speculations that the  Hon. Etim John led Executive Committee has been endorsed to operate as the authentic executive body of the party in Cross River state.

National Vice Chairman, South South of the party, Ntufam Hilliard Eta who denied the speculation added that the national leadership was still dwelling on resolving the crisis within the party in state.

Eta said the national leadership was aware of the court injunction slammed on Hon.John and his exco and therefore stated that the said exco remains barred.

Eta in a statement in Calabar remarked that he has already communicated the development to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral  Commission, INEC in Cross River.

A letter dated July 23, 2018 and addressed to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Cross River said in parts," You are aware that the court has barred the illegal exco headed by one Hon Etim John from operating until the determination of the case in court".

Written on the heels of the Obudu State Constituency Bye-election slated for August 11, 2018 by INEC, the letter also advises the commission to direct all its communication regarding the election to the office of the National Vice Chairman, south south.

"In the light of the above, I hereby advise that all communications relating to the election be directed to the office of the National Vice Chairman(south south)".

The party thanked INEC for its earlier communications to the party regarding the Obudu state constituency bye-election which came on the heels of the demise of its former occupant in the state legislature, Hon. Stephen Ukpukpen.

It would be recalled that the state congress of the party ended on a controversial note thus throwing up two interests with the Dr. Matthew Achigbe led faction dragging the Hon. Etim John faction to court on alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exercise.
