JUST IN : Unical introduces Criminology, Anti-terrorism and Security Studies

The University of Calabar (Unical) is set to add Criminology, Antiterrorism and Security Studies and Peace and Conflict Resolution to its ever expanding degree programmes.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Zana Akpagu in an exclusive chat with our reporter revealed that the Senate of the University has given approval for the commencement of the programmes in the next academic session.

Prof. Akpagu said one of his major goals on assumption of office was to massively expand the institution's curriculum offerings to meet up with other 2nd generation universities in the country.

He disclosed that last year, the university established and matriculated students into the faculties of Engineering, Dentistry and Pharmacy noting that the new Faculties have 6 departments each.

The VC added that the institution under his watch has also established and matriculated students into the departments of Mass Communication and Digital Media, Music, Fine and Apllied Arts Tourism and Hospitality Management, Food Science and Technology as well as Physiotherapy.

Akpagu who is the first alumnus of the University to become VC maintained that "Our alma mater is no longer 'Mickey Mouse' University. We must play in the big league"
