Law students honour Ndoma-Egba, Edem, Betta Edu, others

University of Calabar, UNICAL Law Students from Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) Chambers of Justice have awarded thirty eminent dignitaries including Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, Chief Judge Michael Edem, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, Dr. Betta Edu, Ntufam Mba Ukweni, with a Legacy Award.

Unveiling and launching of the Maiden Legacy Almanac of Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) Chambers of Justice and presenting the Legacy Award to eminent dignitaries on Thursday at the University of Calabar Moot Court, the students were tasked to be great alumni of the faculty as well as set a footstool for others.

The Chief Judge of Cross River State, Hon. Justice Michael Edem, ably represented by Elizabeth, Esq. said he's very concerned about the activities of Law Students, following the changes in the judiciary system.

He encouraged the students to be of good conduct. "I encourage everyone here to work hard to make this Chambers greater."

On his part, the Dean of Faculty of Law, Bishop Prof. Michael Okom said he's fascinated seeing young people putting every effort to make the faculty great. "Seeing young people impacting on the faculty makes me feel great; for young people are known for agility, acuity.

"We expect that those in this administration does better to continue to shine the light on this faculty. As you go out, try and organise yourselves so you can be great alumni to this faculty."

The legacy awards were presented to, The Board Chairman of NDDC, Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba CON, OFR, SAN, Chief Judge of Cross River State, Hon. Justice Michael Edem, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, State Security Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Jude Ngaji, Director General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, Barr. Chris Agara, Ntufam Mba E. Ukweni (SAN).

Receiving the award, the DG of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Betta Edu said she's really honoured - while encouraging the students to be good ambassadors of the Chambers.

"First of all, I know Lawyers and Doctors don't go along, but I really want to say this is a great motivation for me.

"I want to encourage everyone here, especially the young people to be good ambassadors as the world is waiting for your intellect, capacity."

Earlier speaking, the Chief Principal Partner of the Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) Chambers of Justice, Ohatu E. Ohatu said the Chambers will record a greater feat soon. "I am confident that very soon the Chambers will record the giant strides that will take it to greater heights."

Running through the history of the Chambers, Ohatu said, "the Chambers has produced SUG President, Chief Judges of Malabor, Attorney General of the SUG, world class Mooters/Debaters, and lots more."

Other awardees include Dr. Alex Egbona, Bishop Prof. Michael Okom, Mr. Abang Odok Ogar (Esq.), Dr. Rose Ohiama Ugbe, Prince Daniel E. Ekpo (Esq.), Hon. David Ekpo (Esq.), Hon. Chuks Agube, Mrs. Ansa-Eno Arit (Esq.), Hon. Justice F. O. Riman, and lots more.
