Akpagu says Obudu is one as Utukalu organizes thanksgiving in his honour

Unical VC, Ntufam Prof. Zana Akpagu and wife, Ntunkae (Mrs) Winnie Akpagu at the thanksgiving Mass organized by the Utukalu Community in Unical.

The Vice Chancellor University of Calabar, Professor Zana Akpagu has advised political elites to shun acts capable of bringing exploitation and "artificial" division amongst the people of Obudu Local Government of Cross River State.

Professor Akpagu who made the remarks at a special thanksgiving mass organized by the Utukalu Community in UNICAL and held in Utugwang recently in his honour said that Obudu remain one indivisible family.

He said some politicians have been fanning the embers of disunity and also creating division among the Utukalu and Bette speaking people in Obudu and this has brought under-development in the land.

He said “I want to admonish all sons and daughters of Obudu to always see each other as member of one indivisible family and they should all rise against any group of persons creating divisions in the local government area because we all are one and there is no difference between Utugwang people and Obudu people”.

He thanked the members of Utukalu Community in UNICAL for the warmth reception and their unalloyed support and co-operations towards his administration.

Also, the Paramount Ruler, Obudu Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Uti Jedy Agba lauded the developmental strides recorded by Akpagu in UNICAL and enjoined other leaders to emulate the leadership quality of the VC.

The monarch stressed the relevance of education on any society because education generally brings about growth and development and called on the people of Utukalu Community to keep their flag flying.

Former speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, (CRHA), Dr. Gabriel Ada who chaired the occasion described the VC as a result oriented, dedicated, very humbled and dogged man who has made outstanding contributions to humanity.
