BREAKING : Unical Presents Solar Plant Financial Report to Nigeria-Germany Energy Group

Efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Unical, Prof. Zana Akpagu to solve the perennial power problem in the institution received a major boost today at the ongoing 6th session of the working group of power and energy of Nigerian-German Bi-National Commission in Abuja.

At the event, the VC alongside the Bursar, Mrs. Beatrice Igwe and the Director of Information Technology, ICT of the institution, Prof. Anthony Akpan presented Unical's Solar Plant Financial Modeling Report to the binational working group of the Nigeria-German Energy Partnership.

The session is co-chaired by the Honourable Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Alhaji Mustapha Baba Shehuri and German Secretary of State, Mr. Walter Lindner.

The finalized financial model for the solar plant was received by the German developers and investors.

As part of modalities to ensure speedy implementation, African Development Bank, AfDB has agreed to provide support for the implementation of the project.

Reacting, the VC who used the hashtag, Unical rising (#UnicaRising) to express his excitement over the development said that "now that the project financing is structured, we are ready to go by moving swiftly to implementation".

University of Ibadan, U.I and Adekunle Ajasin University are two other Universities attending the session with Unical as pioneers beneficiaries of the Nigeria-German energy partnership.
