BREAKING : 44 Years After, Akpagu Installs First Lift in Unical

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu has procured and commenced installation of Lift in the University's main Library built since the early 1980s.

This is the first ever Lift Elevator installed in the University since its establishment 44 years ago.

The Cabin/Lift car commenced vertical movement on the fourth of September, 2019.

It will be recalled that past administrations have attempted but failed to install the Lift since the building was commissioned more than 35 years ago.

Akpagu, nicknamed "Mr. Project" because of his massive infrastructural development since assuming office in 2015 apart from initiating new projects has also completed many abandoned projects in the University.

Apart from the Lift, another recent abandoned project completed by Akpagu is the over 40 years old Faculty of Arts Annex which was commissioned during the last convocation. The building is currently housing three Departments namely Mass Communication, Music and Fine and Applied Arts.

This is even as the VC, months ago for the first time in the history of the institution rehabilitated and reconstructed the popular Malabu road constructed almost 35 years ago.

Speaking, the VC reiterated his commitment to give Unical a facelift through massive infrastructural development.

He added that he has completed many other uncompleted projects and will continue to do more.
