Akpagu is first ever Unical VC to organise 5 consecutive convocations as Senate approves 2020 date

The results oriented Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu is set to become the first ever VC of the institution to organise five convocations consecutively for five years since the inception of the institution.

Prof. Akpagu who assumed office in 2015 has revamped every unit in University including ensuring that the institution achieve international best practices by organising convocation ceremony every year to formally graduate students at different levels.

From 2016 till last year, he organised four consecutive convocations making it the first time since the establishment of the University and with the recent Senate approval for the 33rd convocation, he's on course to beat the record he set by himself.

A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr. Eyo Effiong indicates that the institution's Senate in its last meeting approved March 13th and 14th, 2020 for the 33rd convocation ceremony.

The statement quoted the VC who doubles as the Chairman of Senate as saying that on

the 13th of March, 2020 will mark the award of First Degrees while award of Higher Degrees, Honorary Degrees and Presentation of Prizes will take place on 14th March, 2020 at the Abraham Ordia Stadium"l.

Eyo however added that  further details of the

convocation event will be provided in due course".
