Akpagu mourns Jedy's mother

Prof. Zana Akpagu

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu has expressed sadness over the demise of Mama Gertrude Amokeye Jedy-Agba, mother of the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, Dan Jarin Nupe and wife of the Paramount Ruler of Obudu local government area.

Akpagu in a statement described her as a virtues woman whose doors were always opened for everybody regardless where they come from.

He narrated that as a young man growing up, the deceased was his second mother who treated him not just as a friend to the family but as her own direct son.

The statement reads, "I'm deeply saddened by the demise of Mama. I don't just call her Mama for the sake of it. I call her Mama because she was truly a mother to me and many others. Her doors were always open for me, if you see me in her house, you will think she was my biological mother. I feel really sad because I enjoyed a maternal love from her.

"Mama Nurse as she was fondly called was a reputable Nurse that truly cared about the health of her people. Despite being a Queen and a wife of the Paramount Ruler, Mama was always coming down from her royal seat to do even jobs as small as immunisation. She was not just humble but very dedicated to her job and the well-being of her people.

"Her diligence in bringing up strong and reputable children will always be appreciated by society. Although she's gone, her legacies will live forever. She was indeed a mother not only to her children but all that came across her.

"I pray that the almighty God will grant her peaceful rest, and comfort  my father, the Paramount Ruler, Uti Joseph Davies Agba, Uti Ukani 1 of Obudu, her dear son, Prince Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, Dan Jarin Nupe, Honourable Minister of State for Power and the entire family"
