NCDC confirmation of C'River as COVID-19 free will motivate us to do even better - Peace Corps

The Peace Corps of Nigeria, Cross River State Command has vowed to remain undaunted and committed to ensuring that the state remains COVID-19 free.

State Commandant of the Corps, Patriot Okweche Dominic stated this while reacting to the recent remarks confirming the state as COVID-19 free by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Okweche said that men of the Corps who are fontliners mounting various borders in the state are motivated to do even better to ensure the state retain the status.

He thanked the state Governor, Sir Ben Ayade for the confidence reposed on the organisation to lead the fight against the ravaging pandemic.

According to him "The declaration today by the NCDC officials that Cross River State is Covid -19 free didn't come as surprise to me. This is because,  His Excellency, the Digital Governor was so proactive such that all the steps needed to be taken to contain and curtail the novel virus from entering the state were timely taken".

The Commandant added that "You can't do the same thing every day and expect different results. For those of us, the front liners,  it's a motivation to do even better to retain this status.

"I thank His Excellency,  the Governor for the confidence reposed on the Peace Corps. We are very committed to deliver on the terms of engagement. Let's all continue to stay safe and adhere strictly to all NCDC regulations in this regard".
