COVID-19 : Minister shuns social activities, limits number of invitees for mother's burial

Honourable Minister of State, Power, Prince Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR

The Minister of State, Power, Prince Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR has said that due to the federal government restrictions on social gathering occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-9 pandemic, he will not be holding any social activity during the burial of his mother this weekend.

Jedy in a statement he personally signed said that it was necessary to address this because of repeated requests by people and different groups to attend the funeral.

He maintained that he will limit the number of invitees for the funeral while appealing to friends and well wishers to continue to pray for a peaceful repose of the deceased.

The Minister commended friends, colleagues, political associates and well wishers for the support shown the family thus far since the sad incident occurred.

"We are all aware of the directives of government on social distancing and restrictions on social gathering occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. In line with the established protocols, I'm constrained to limit the number of invitees and unable to personally host any social activities during the burial ceremony".

It will be recalled that the Minister's mother, late Mrs. Gertrude Amokeye Agba (Mama Nurse) passed on in the early hours of Sunday, April 19th, 2020 after protracted illness.

The body of the deceased which has since been in the National Hospital morgue because of the federal government lockdown occasioned by COVID-19 will be interred this weekend at Uti Ukani Jedy Agba's compound in Ukpirinyi, Utugwang, Obudu local government area of Cross River State.
