APC Senatorial Hopeful Bags NSE Award

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, and Cross River North Senatorial hopeful, Prof. Zana Akpagu has been nominated for an award of honour by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE) Calabar branch.

This was contained in a letter addressed to the VC, dated July 27th and signed by Engr. Desmond Ewa, the General Secretary of the organization.

The award will be conferred on him during the 2020 Dinner and Inauguration of new Executive Committee holding, August 28 at the Calabar Municipal Secretariat Dome.

Explaining the reason for the award, NSE maintained that "it is in view of your significant development of the engineering profession through the establishment of Faculty of Engineering at the University of Calabar, after many years of the University's existence without offering engineering programmes".

Prof. Akpagu since assuming office as VC has received numerous awards both within the country and internationally. In 2017, he won the best VC in Nigeria award organized by a London based news platform, ‘The Nigerian’ and the ‘Nigeria Print Journalism Magazine’.
