SCAM ALERT : Don't Pay Anybody Penny For Contract, Beware Of Fraudsters - Minister

The Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, OFR has warned members of the public to be wary of fraudsters who are defrauding people on their hard earned money under the pretext of giving them contracts in his ministry.

Agba in a statement he personally signed and issued in Abuja on Monday said that contracts under his supervision are awarded through a transparent process defined by the law.

The statement which was in reaction to complaints by some people that they have been receiving calls from scammers to pay money for contracts vowed that perpetrators will be prosecuted.

"My attention has been drawn to reports of fraudulent calls and text messages by scammers requesting unsuspecting members of the public to pay some amount of money to yet to be identified bank account for contracts from my office. Members of the public are advised to disregard such calls or text messages charging them fees on the pretext that they will award them contracts from any agency under me. Such communication are fraudulent and don't have anything to do with me". He added that "I have neither appointed nor commissioned any organization, person or group of persons to serve as an agent on my behalf for the purpose of selling contracts or obtaining any form of assistance from me or my office. Please do not engage with these people or share any personal information with them All contracts under my purview are advertised for interested contractors to tender after which, successful companies are awarded the contracts through a very credible and transparent process. While the appropriate authorities have been briefed to fish the criminals, they are warned to desist from such act before it becomes too late".
