Unified Commercial Drivers Association of Cross River State, have appealed to All Progressives Congress zoning committee in the state to consider Godwin Nyiam for the party's chairmanship slot.
Making this disclosure in a press conference in Calabar, its Chairman, Pastor Thomas Okon, noted that he was speaking the minds of the people in the transport sector with a passionate appeal to party stalwarts to consider the DG of Department of Public Transport (DOPT) as state party chairman.
According to him, the transport sector can facilitate robust following and enhanced ties for the party across the state.
He said: "If there is no good representation in the decision making process of governance you may likely have issues. One of us in the transport subsector has tried and deserves a pat on the back for stabilizing the sector through synergy with different bodies within the sector."
Okon, while highlighting the humility of Godwin Nyiam, maintained that his loyalty to the party and the government under the leadership of Prof Benedict Ayade propelled him to step aside for late Senator Rose Oko during the Senatorial primary election in 2019 should be rewarded with the plum job.
The cleric averred that," Ogoja Local Government should be encouraged to vie for the party Chairman and Godwin Nyiam should be given an opportunity to lead the All Progressives Congress because he would be able to galvanise the transport sector for the party's benefit across the state."
