Ukelle Consultative Forum Endorses Okputu for Vacant Reps Seat

A pan Ukelle socio-cultural group, Ukelle Consultative Forum (UCF), has identified and endorsed towering political personality, Dr Julius Okputu, as the most qualified aspirant across Ukelle in the forthcoming Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency Poll.

Expressing unwavering support for Dr Okputu's candidacy in an enlarged meeting held at the residence of  Hon Fred Okem, in Ogoja on Friday.

The group composed of artisans, traditional rulers, women, youths and professionals from all works of life unanimously endorsed  him as Ukelle candidate with relevant political exposure, intelligence and dexterity for the vacant position in the green chamber.

  Decrying  continuous exclusion of Yala II(Ukelle) state constituency from the scheme of national politics, convener of the group,Elder Joseph Ijoko,remarked that Dr Okputu fits the billing given that he is the most suitable candidate with a knack for people oriented projects whose experience can fill the gap of deprivation.

"Ukelle people have suffered deprivation for a long time and the right time for us to take a shot at the national political landscape is now".

While calling for justice and fairness, Ijoko further stressed that the forum is demanding for equal right as a component in the federal constituency.

He also reeled out historical facts about Cross River State politics from inception till date just as he emphasized that, "we the Ukelle people are also constituents of the Ogoja/ Yala federal constituency who should be treated fairly as equal partakers in the process of governance in the state and Nigeria".

 Similarly, Hon Fred Okem expressed happiness that there is indeed a new thinking to proffer solutions to the conundrum of exclusion from national representation. He maintained that converging  on his residence to discuss critical issues affecting Ukelle is divinely ordained for the progress of the people. 

"Whoever this forum of young and old, men and women of Ukelle extraction endorse today will fly the ticket of the House of Representatives on behalf of the Ukelle people with a conviction that he will soar higher for the good governance of Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency".

Reiterating the sterling qualities of Dr Okputu, Pst.Christian Ikiri, a former Vice Chairman of Yala Local Government  stated that," this is the first time the Ukelle Nation will be fielding a candidate in the high profiled national assignment, it will be a mockery not to endorse and present a candidate who will represent the good, focused, hardworking and result-oriented people of Ukelle nation"

  Acknowledging the forum's endorsement with humility, "Ukelle First Son" as Dr Okputu is fondly called thanked his kindred for   exhibiting sincere commitment to change the narrative with love, unity and passion in order accelerate Ukelle into national reckoning.

  "I hereby make a passionate request from you all, let's remain focused, committed and optimistic because better days are ahead especially with the socketing of the state to the centre.

The former Commissioner for works averred  that he trust in the leadership of the governor and the new state Chairman,Barr Alphonsus Eba to help Ukelle achieve the collective desire.

 "Let us continue to trust in the leadership of Prof Ben Ayade (KSJ) as the leader of our great party the APC which has proved bookmakers wrong with a successful state congress that saw Barr. Alphonsus Eba on a sail to navigating the  the party with a youthful zeal"
