...Urges Cross River Indigenes to Explore Partnership Possibilities


The Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, University of Calabar, Prof. Michael P.Okom has appealed to Cross River indigenes to fully explore the possibilities of partnering with the Rochas Foundation School,which has been established in Calabar to enhance its operational efficiency.


In a brief chat with newsmen yesterday in Calabar, he called on " Cross Riverians who have something to offer to  also come in and give full support in whatever way they can,to make the institution blossom and  prosper in the state,as it has in other states".


Prof Okom, an advocate of free education in Nigeria, noted that the school which is about to commence in Calabar is the 12th in the country  and has been established to train children from Junior Secondary School (JSS) level to university level free of charge.


The Law Professor who commended the Foundation for deepening its roots in many places,noted that it is a thing of great pleasure to have them in Calabar.


The two NGOs are poised to offer voluntary service in the area of teaching and  teacher/staff training and retraining and other services that the institution may require,in order for  the set objectives of the school to be actualized.


In his words," the Prince Seven Youth Development Initiative and my NGO, Life Resources Network have resolved to  give the Foundation full support in running the school." 


He urged citizens of Cross River State not to politicise  the programme,so as to enhance its smooth take -off ensure it's stable operations.


Rochas  Foundation provides free and qualitative education to  less privileged children. It admits  orphans and indigent children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school.
