Wayas's Death : Nigeria Has Lost A Great Patriot - Jedy-Agba

Late Dr. Joseph Wayas, Second Republic Nigeria's Senate President 


The Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, has described the death of Nigeria's Second Republic Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas as a devastating loss to Cross River State and Nigeria at large. 


The news of the death of the veteran politician filtered in on Thursday morning. He was said to have died in a London hospital where he was receiving treatment for unnamed ailment. 

Reacting to the sad news, Jedy-Agba in a message personally signed by him and made available to newsmen in Abuja, mourns the demise of the elder statesman, saying it is a sad day for the country.

He described Wayas as a national icon who played prominent roles in the nation's journey to democratic rule and would forever be remembered for his sacrifices for the country. 

The Minister said that "I'm saddened by the news of the demise of our leader, the former Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas. His demise is a great loss to us, the people of Cross River and the entire country. 

He was a national icon who lived a purposeful life, dedicated to the cause of building national unity, integration and service to humanity. 

One thing a lot of people don't know about him is that, Dr. Wayas was a true Nigerian who spoke all the major languages; Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Tiv, etc, fluently. He was a leader who believed in the indivisibility of Nigeria and dedicated much of his life working to keep Nigeria as one".

Jedy-Agba prayed God to grant repose to the soul of the deceased even as he urged his immediate family, Cross River State and the entire country to take solace in the life he lived.
