2023 : Minister Congratulates Otu, Says He's Best For APC, Cross River

The Honourable Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, has said that the emergence of Sen. Prince Bassey Otu as governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC is best for both the party and the state at large. 

Jedy-Agba, in a congratulatory message to the former Cross River South Senator hailed the delegates for overwhelmingly voting Otu even as he reiterated that he is sure he'll guarantee APC smooth ride to retain power in 2023. 

He maintained that for the APC candidate to pulled eight hundred and eleven votes (811) out of the total nine hundred and fifty eight (958) votes cast has justified the attempt by the party to build a consensus around him. 

Recall that Otu was confirmed APC governorship candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election after pulling a total of 811 votes to defeat two other aspirants, Sen. John Owan Enoh who came second with 84 votes and Barr. Chris Agara who scored 63 votes in a primary held on Thursday, May 26 at U. J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

While calling on other aspirants to accept the outcome of the primaries in good faith, 

he charged them to, in the interest of the party, collapse their structures to work for Otu and the party ahead of the general elections. 

In his words "I want to congratulate the party and my dear brother, Sen. Bassey Otu on his emergence as the gubernatorial candidate of our great party, the APC ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

His emergence as candidate from Cross River South has shown clearly that APC is a party that stands for fairness and equity. The overwhelming support and votes he got in the primaries is a sign that indeed, he's a choice of the majority. Now it's time for everybody to come together to deliver him and others who will fly our flag in the coming elections ".

The APC Chieftain maintained that "I know that everybody in the race is credible but only one person can be candidate of a party at a time. It's usually very difficult to accept decisions like this especially with the desire and passion I've seen in all our aspirants to serve.

We're one big family hence, my appeal to other aspirants to embrace the outcome of the primaries in good faith in the interest of peace and unity in the party. We need to win election and to win, we must remain united". 

Continuing, he added that, "I'm very confident that Prince Otu will give APC easy win and I know for sure that he'll make a very good Governor because of his track records".
