Member representing Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwerra federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Akpanke, has facilitated the supply and installation of solar street lights to Boggo 1, 11, and Ogbakokor Communities in Utanga/Becheve, Obanliku local government area.

Akpanke, who has endeared himself to his constituents with his performances even as a first-time lawmaker, said that the project is part of his efforts to give a facelift to rural settlements as well as bring government presence across his federal constituency.

The lawmaker, who is the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Capital Territory Area Council, added that the solar-powered street lights are also part of measures to enhance internal security, boost economic activities, as well as beautify the communities.

Speaking, Timothy Akoh, a community leader in Utanga, applauded the legislator for his gesture, saying that the projects have brought hope to them that Akpanke has not forgotten them after the election.

While lamenting that since after the Gov. Donald Duke era, their communities have only been remembered during election periods, he urged the lawmaker to continue to invest in rural development, as the locals are a segment of the society that needs government presence the most.

Recall that Akpanke had previously lit up several communities within his federal constituency with solar-powered street lights.
