Reps Committee On Industry Meets In Calabar
The House of Representatives committee on Industry is currently holding a four-day workshop at the Metropolitan Hotel ( Transcorp), Calabar. The workshop which started on Tuesday 24 September, 2024 will end tomorrow, Saturday, 28.
The workshop, organized by National Sugar Development Council with the theme :"Creating Synergy For Nigeria's Sugar Industry Development" features discussion on the overview of the sugar industry and the backward integration programme.
Cross River born Reps member, Hon. Victor Abang (Mature), representing Ikom/Boki federal constituency who's a member of the committee, and attending the workshop, said that he's excited his state was chosen as venue for the workshop.
Abang who said that the event is also featuring update on the implementation of the 2024 as it concerns the industry and the 2025 work plan and budget estimates, said that as a member of the committee, it'll be his desire to see more Cross Riverian venture into doing business in the sugar industry.
He maintained that there are a lot of opportunities in the industry and he's willing to discuss how he can be of help to members of his constituency willing to explore some options in the sugar sector.
The lawmaker commended Governor Bassey Otu for restoring peace and returning the state to one of the cleanest in the state. He said that the serenity and peaceful nature is the state is why it is once again, attracting government and foreign institutions to stage programme as the workshop in the state.
Members of the committee will later pay a courtesy call on the Governor to discuss possible areas of collaboration to develop the sugar and other sectors in the state state.
