BREAKING : PDP NWC Member Dumps Party For APC in C’River

Barring any last minute changes, an ex- officio and member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Kjay Jedy-Agba is set to dump his party for the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.

Kjay was also a member of the Cross River state Caretaker Committee of PDP, a 2011 Cross River North senatorial aspirant and an aspirant for the PDP ticket for the Obudu/Bekwerra/Obanliku federal constituency in 2023.

He reportedly announced his decision to leave the PDP during a meeting he convened with his ward leaders recently in his country home in Utugwang, Obudu local government area.

Recall that the rumour of his defection has been making the rounds since the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey paid a surprised visit to his Abuja residence few weeks ago. It was gathered that the Deputy Governor’s mission was to convince the PDP leader to lead his supporters to the APC.

His defection will be a significant breakthrough for the APC in its effort to break PDP’s dominance in Utugwang.

A source who pleaded not to be mentioned said that , “I can confirm that I was part of the meeting and our leader in Utugwang Central, Prince Kjay is leaving the PDP. He told us categorically that the umbrella is no longer providing us the shelter it once did therefore, he’s leaving. I won’t say further but I know many of us will be moving with him because like I said, he’s our leader.”

When contacted, Kjay, a crown Prince and one of the sons of the late longest serving monarch in Nigeria, Uti J.D Agba said that he’ll make public, whatever political decision he has taken in due course.

“I’ll tell Cross Riverians my next political move very soon, just wait. When is time, I’ll be the one to call you, but it won’t be too long from now“.
