2027: Akamkpa/Biase Youths Rally Behind Emil Inyang, Seek Otu’s Support

Youths, women and political stakeholders from Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency have rallied behind the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Emil Inyang, urging Governor Bassey Otu to support his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders, who gathered under the umbrella of the Akamkpa/Biase Youth Movement, also appealed to the governor to intervene in the growing divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the constituency to preserve unity ahead of future elections.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Daniel Enang from Ehom Ward in Biase Local Government Area commended Governor Otu for what he described as transformational leadership and developmental strides across Cross River State.

According to him, youths across Akamkpa and Biase played major roles in the emergence of the current administration and remain committed to the continued success of the APC in the state.

“We are here as youths of Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency to passionately appeal to His Excellency to please bring unity to the party. The level of division we are witnessing is unprecedented and dangerous ahead of future elections,” he said.

Enang appealed to Governor Otu and the APC leadership to support Emil Inyang’s second-term aspiration, citing what he described as visible representation and impactful constituency projects across the federal constituency.

He listed some of the achievements of the lawmaker to include the installation of over 24 solar-powered boreholes, empowerment of more than 300 Point-of-Sale (POS) beneficiaries, fisheries training and support for over 500 constituents, agricultural grants and several youth empowerment programmes.

According to him, the federal lawmaker has also created employment opportunities through the engagement of media aides and liaison officers across the 21 wards in Akamkpa and Biase.

Also speaking, Hon. Raphael Egwu from Erei North in Biase Local Government Area described Emil Inyang as a loyal and disciplined party man who repeatedly sacrificed personal ambition for party unity by stepping down in previous contests before eventually emerging in 2023.

Egwu noted that even after his election was nullified, Emil Inyang returned to the field and was overwhelmingly re-elected because of his popularity and grassroots acceptance.

He argued that allowing the lawmaker complete a second term would preserve the existing zoning arrangement and political understanding between Akamkpa and Biase, warning that any disruption could create unnecessary tension within the constituency.

In separate remarks, Ambassador Comrade Elvis Eyam, Mrs. Ekaette Pius and Akamkpa Youth Leader, Seeker Otu, described Emil Inyang as an accessible and inclusive leader who has consistently empowered youths, women and farmers through employment opportunities, agricultural support programmes and constituency interventions.

The stakeholders unanimously expressed confidence in Governor Otu’s leadership and appealed to him to preserve the existing peace and political understanding within Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency by supporting Hon. Emil Inyang’s re-election bid in 2027.
