Obubra APC Adopts Ayo As Sole Candidate for State Chairmanship Election

The aspiration of Comrade Mark Enang Ayo to become the Cross River state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC got a burst on Friday,  February 10 as the Obubra chapter of the party adopted him as a sole candidate from the local government.

The decision was taken unanimously by the party chapter executives and the eleven ward chairmen during the formal declaration of Ayo to seek the position in the forthcoming Congress.

Speaking, the chapter chairman, Mr. Smart Obongha described him as a grassroots politician who has the capacity to lead the party to victory in the forthcoming Local Government Elections and the other elections.

Smart who said Mark is the face of opposition in Obubra having been in  opposition from 1999 till date, add that his experience of having played opposition all his political career will be an added advantage to the APC should he becomes the state party chairman.
He urged all stakeholders of the party to unite in support of Ayo for the interest of peace, unity and equity.

According yo him, "We have faith that God will make this dream come true. Despite the fact that we may not have money like others, a typical APC person goes for credibility not money so we have the confidence that Ayo will emerge.

"Mark has been in opposition since 1999 so he knows what it means to play opposition politics. In fact, he's a grass rooter and by coming to do his formal declaration here despite the fact that most of us may not be legible to vote in the elections shows how much he respect us and it's normal that we respect him too by giving him our unflinching support. Therefore, I officially present him you as our candidate for the APC state party chairmanship election".

Also speaking, the Obubra Wards Chairmen leader, Mr. Dominic Okey, said that the position fits  Ayo perfectly because of his experience having been part of the party from inception.

Okey, the ward chairman of Osopong 1 maintained that "We know him as the son of the soul and we are happy that he has decided to submit him to serve our great party at the highest level in the State. I'm speaking the minds of all the ward chairmen and we have adopted him completely for this election because we know him and know what he's capable of doing".

Supporting the decision of the party executives to adopt Ayo, a chieftain of the party, Mr. Egbe Jonah noted that Obubra since the death of John Okpa have suffered neglect in the politics of the state therefore everybody should see Ayo's ambition as Obubra fight.

He said that, "We need a state chairman that can challenge the bad governance of PDP. We don't need a state chairman that will feign ignorance to the gross incompetence of PDP in the state. So when you consider all this you will know that Mark is the right person therefore we must take this as Obubra fight not as Mark's struggle alone".

Monday Lawrence, also a chieftain of the party described Ayo as a firm politician who does not weaver  adding that the party needs somebody like him who has no reservation in telling the truth no matter who's involved.
In his words, "Mark will unite the party. He will be a good bullet because he has no reservation in telling the truth no matter who is involved. He is a dogged fighter and a committed party leader so I urge all party stakeholders to support this dream".

Earlier, Ayo during his opening remarks said that the Obubra people have been very loyal opposition members in the state as the highest votes against the PDP has always come from the local government in all the elections since 1999 till date.

"I want the message to start from here. I want to put myself forward to be battered. I am ready for it. The highest votes for opposition in any election has always come from Obubra so we have been loyal to opposition to the level that this position should be given to us.
"People have been asking my sponsor. Well, I don't have any sponsor and I don't even have money but I have the people", he said.

He recounted that as chapter chairman, "I was able to produce the only opposition house of assembly member. I have fought many fights for the party. I pledge to unite the party, give it a direction and focus if elected".
