UNICAL Committed To End Erosion, Flood - VC

The University of Calabar, Calabar, (UNICAL) has reiterated it commitment to bring to an end the menace of erosion and flood in the university.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Zana Akpagu reiterated the Unversity's commitment when he played host to a conbined team of officials of Ecological Funds Office (EFO) and Contractors to handle erosion and flood control works in the varsity.

Prof. Akpagu disclosed that the problem of erosion and flood has been a huge set back to the university.

He assured his guests that Management is very keen on the project as exemplified by the involvement of the immediate past Pro-chancellor of the institution, Chief (Dr) Iwuanyanwu.

It will be recalled that the contract for erosion and flood control works in the university has already been awarded and was recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Earlier, the leader of the team, Mr. Ifabiyi Stephen of the EFO said that they were in the University to officially hand over the project site to the contractor.

He added that the project having been approved by the FEC, it was imperative for the contractor to move to site immediately as the project is time bound.

Ifabiyi also appealed to the varsity Management to avail the contractors whatever assistance needed to facilitate the timely completion of the project.

According to him, the contract was awarded to Messrs Telesis Limited with Messrs Nok Associate as project consultant.
