Cross River APC Felicitates With FG On Democracy Day, Two Years In Office

Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC has felicitated with the Federal Government on the occasion of Nigeria Democracy Day as well as succeaful completion of two Years in Office as the ruling party.

In a statement issued by the state Acting Chairman of the party, John Ochala, the hailed President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo and other government functionaries for their sacrifices towards nation building.

While wishing President Buhari a quick recovery, the party hailed the Acting President Prof. Osibanjo for performing credibly in the absence of the President.

Acxording to the statement "Let Us seize this opportunity to thank President Mohammed Buhari, His able Vice, Yomi Osinbajo and the entire executive, legislative and judicial team for their enormous sacrifices towards nation building".

The statement added that "We must not fail to salute the Positive and Resilient Spirit of Nigerians, we say to the Nigerian Citizen- there is Light at the End of this tunnel .

"May we use this moment to wish our dear president Mohammed Buhari(GCFR) a speedy recovery , while also appreciating the Acting Preside for Diligently holding the fort"

The party noted that "We acknowledge  some of the successes so far recorded by the Federal Government : Security: Degrading of the Boko Haram insurgents to its minimum, restoration of peace in the niger delta region, securing the release of 106 chinook girls and general security of life's and properties in the country.

"Employment of Hundreds of thousand of our youths in various sectors of the economy.

"Re-positioning/Re- vitalizing the economy and bringing her out of Recession .

"Very Positive results in the fight against Corruption I.e recovering hundreds of Billions of stolen federal government funds.

"Monumental Infrastructural Development across the Country I.e the Calabar - Lagos Rail , Calabar/ Itu Road , Up grade of Airport.School Feeding Program, increase Direct Foreign Investment due to transparency of the Federal Government etc".

The party however berated Governor Ben Ayade for performing poorly in his first two years.

"Cross River, governor Ayade has not given us any reason to celebrate. The governor rolled out series of activities to Mark Cross River @ 50, but in all the lined up activities, there is No Single Project to be Commissioned, what a shame.

"On May 29th, 2015, when governor Ayade took his oath of office, he promised commissioning his now infamous signature projects in eighteen months, two years after, all the signatures we see and hear of are the MOUs that are never implemented .

"The governor is at the verge of deceiving the Acting President to come and commission the Garment factory, a fraudulent enterprise that belongs to the governor through his cronies.

"The government of Cross River under Ayade have succeeded in making the state the dirtiest in the country, Pensions/ Gratuities are not paid, no portable water, no meaningful project , governance is spontaneous and by impulse , in a state where the number one and two citizens( by default) claim to be Professorial , we have the worst state library in Nigeria.

"The governor who is far older than the last three occupants of the government house (as at when they became governors), pretends to be far younger than his age and in this self deceit , preoccupy himself with Shoki dance while Cross River Remains with a Clueless Leadership", the statement reads in part.

APC added that " the insensitivity of the state government and lack of empathy for Cross Riverians  was made manifest when a levy of over 50% increase in the cause of loading a trailer of PMS was imposed on the tanker drivers without prior negotiations with critical stake holders. This led to serious hardship in the state, transport and the cost of general goods and services was up by 300% .

"Thank God for Federal Government intervention and the resolute tanker Union.

"While the Federal Government is having sleepless nights thinking of how to alleviate the suffering of the masses, governor Ayade is having sleepless nights thinking of ingenious ways of looting the state, like diverting the bail out funds into his brothers private account.

"The All Progressive Congress, Cross River Chapter calls on the EFCC not to sweep the case of our looted bail out funds under the carpet , Cross Riverians are desirous of knowing the outcome of the investigations.

" This inept state government have taken us backwards in terms of developmental strides, this is a very big challenge to us, but our greatest challenge is our MINDSETS .

"Are we ready to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH? Starting with the local government elections? If you ask me, I would say we are ready, willing and able to democratically show this Shoki government the exit door.

"Our dear youths demonstrated this a few days ago with a peaceful and lawful assemblage in Calabar for protestation against the vision less government , only for them to be dispersed forcefully by state security agents . This is impunity, we must stand against it, we must stand up against a directionless  government , we must stand up against executive looters ".
