Church Honours Cross River Peace Corps Commandant

The Saint Jude's Anglican Communion, Calabar Dioces has honoured Cross River State Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Patriot Okweche Dominic with an award of outstanding service to humanity.

The honour was bestowed on him by the Christian Men Fellowship of the Church during the 2017 Father's Day/Thanksgiving service.

Presenting the award, Chairman of the fellowship, Mr. Lawrence Kosiri  said "haven had a close watch on you for your immense contributions to the society at large, we deemed it fit for you Sir. You are a light to our generation and God would continue to provide for you".

While commending the Church for the honour, the Commandant said that the recognition showed that he and his organization were doing something differently to touch the lives of the common man.

He added that despite receiving several other awards,  the honour was special to him as it was coming from a highly respected faith-based organization.

Okweche who lauded the National Commandant of the organization,  Ambassador Akoh Dickson for creating enabling environment for him to touch lives noted that the recognition will spur him to do more.

According to him, "I do things willingly without expecting recommendations or rewards but people keep acknowledging me.  I have received several other awards from both local and international organizations but this is very special because it is coming from a highly respected church.

"Honestly, I feel humbled and very special for this honour especially when you look at the personalities that were also honoured.  I only want to say a big thank you to the men fellowship and the church ; this will spur me to do more".

He added that  "I want to very specially thank my amiable National Commandant, Ambassador Dickson Akoh for all the support.  I dedicate this award to him and all men and officers of the Peace Corps of Nigeria ".

Also honoured were,  John Chukwudozie,  Ekeng Ebri,  Hon. Efa Esua, Jonathan Ozoegbu and Anyinka Roosevelt.
