Breaking: For Defecting To APC, Elucate Must Go, CRSHOA Insist

CRSHOA Speaker, John Gaul Lebo (L) and Hon. Elucate Okoro

Despite recent denial by the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo of plans to suspend and declare vacant, the seat of the member representing Obubra 11 constituency, Hon. (Dr) Elucate Okora who recently dumped the People's Democratic Party,  PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, the assembly,  according to reliable information is set to go ahead with the plan.

Hon Elucate was elected under the umbrella of the PDP to the Cross River State House of Assembly but defected to APC recently citing the leadership crisis which rocked PDP at the time as his reason.

His defection makes him the only member of APC in the 24-member assembly.

Information surfaced few days ago that the remaining 23 PDP legislators were led by the Speaker to a closed door meeting with the Governor, Ben Ayade also a PDP member and some members of the state executives of PDP to finalize plans to suspend and declare his seat vacant.

The plan was however denied by the speaker who insisted in a statement that there was no such plans assuring that Elucate will remain a member of the assembly till the expiration of his tenure in June 2019.

However,  information coming from the house on Friday suggest that the Speaker who is working on the order of the Governor has vowed that the house will not renege on the moves to sack Elucate from the assembly.

A source who spoke with Fearless Reports but pleaded not to be mentioned said that the rebutal by the Speaker was to calm the situation and divert attention to enable them execute their plans.

"All is set for the removal of Hon. Elucate from the House of Assembly for defecting to APC. the Governor has ordered the speaker to do it as soon as possible", the source preview to the information said.

Continuing, the source said that "Elucate defected before the Supreme Court decided on the leadership crisis rocking PDP so it's inappropriate for anybody to want to sack him from the assembly.  The section 109 of the constitution that empower such moves has a clause that if there's faction in the party, members can move without loosing their seats. And at the time he moved,  PDP was in leadership crisis with factions.

"The truth is that the Governor is scared that if nothing happens,  more people will leave the PDP despite the Supreme Court ruling. Even the Governor himself is rumoured to be planning to move..  But why he want Elucate sacked, is what we don't understand.

"A lot of people have left the PDP and are still maintaining their seats.  Senator Owan Enoh for instance left PDP for APC and his seat is still protected.  So where are they drawing their knowledge of wanting to suspend and sack him from? The assembly must let justice prevail over political and selfish sentiments".
