Wanokom vs Wanakade Clash : Ochicha Sues For Peace, Commends FG For Intervention

Chairman of the governing council of Federal Polytechnic lle -Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Mr Odey Ochicha has sued for peace between the warring Wanokom and Wanakade communities in Yala Local GovernmentArea of Cross River State.

Ochicha,  a governorship candidate of APC in 2015 general elections in the state said that the warring communities should eschew all bitterness and return together as brothers and sisters.

It will be recalled that the war between the two communities has reportedly left over 150 people dead with over hundred houses and properties worth billions of naira destroyed.

However,  Ochicha who commended the federal government for intervening in the crisis frowned at the sad development pointing out that they should learn to live in peace with one another.

He urged the state government to establish a robust relationship with the traditional institutions to ensure disputes are resolved early enough to avoid it degenerating to the level where lives and properties would be lost.

"I want to appeal for peace between Wanokom and Wanakade communities in Yala LGA. They are brothers and sisters and should live in peace.

"The state government should develop a robust relationship with the grassroots and traditional institutions to ensure that disputes that could metamorphose into this ugly scenes are easily resolved without unnecessary bloodshed.", he said.
