Breaking : Police Nabs Suspected Unical Solar-power Batteries Thief


Barely one week after the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Calabar (Unical) Prof. Zana Akpagu vowed to crush those responsible for the theft of the University solar-powered street lights batteries, a certain Stanley Osim has been nabbed by the Police attached to the institution in connection to the crime.

Osim who resides in one of the boys quarters on campus was arrested yesterday through an intelligent information.

The suspect has since been arraigned before a Magistrate court in Calabar.

According to police sources who accused Osim of being responsible for the theft of four batteries, the case will come up for hearing on the 14 of August 2017.

The Police have vowed not to relent until the perpetrators of the criminal acts are brought to book.

It we be recalled that the VC last week in a statement issued on his behalf by the Chairman of the University Board of Media and Community Relations, Dr.  Joseph Ekpang frowned at the theft and vandalization of 54 solar-powered street lights in the varsity.

Reacting to the arrest, Dr. Ekpang said that "This is a major breakthrough and it is hoped that this case will help the security agents to track the remaining 50 stolen batteries".
