A Socio-political group, 'Youths Takeover For Peace and Unity' has sued for the peaceful coexistence and unity of Nigeria amidst secession agitations by several ethnic groups in the country.

The group stated this yesterday, Saturday 12 in Abuja during a solidarity rally tagged "One Nigeria" organized to mark the 2017 International Youths Day.

The National Coordinator of the group, Gabriel Ashibi while briefing newsmen said that it's only those who do not learn from history that will be fanning embers of war at a time everybody need to work collectively for the growth and development of the country.

Ashibi called on Nigerian youths not to allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians even as he charged them to embrace peace and unity.

According to him,  "We are not unaware of the tribal uprisings in the country and thereby call on all Nigerian youths to embrace peace and Unity. It is those who do not learn from history that are bound to repeat it".

The group call for more united and visionary leadership that will guarantee peaceful coexistence, infrastructural development, social welfare, political integration, justice and equity in Nigeria.

In his part, the Federal Capital Territory coordinator, Comrade Oladipo Musibau said that the problem of Nigeria is not only rooted in religion and tribe but poor leadership that has bedevilled the country since independence.

Musibau maintained that "Nigeria's problem is not about tribe or religion but that of poor leadership. Therefore I urge the youths not to be used as agents of disunity and commotion but that they should rather see themselves as potential leaders of the nation".
