Unical VC Receives Report On Academic Fraud Investigation


The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar Prof. Zana Akpagu has received a detailed report from the Academic fraud investigation Committee as part of a broader initiative by management to eliminate all forms of academic fraud in the Institution.

Speaking at the brief event held at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, the University helmsman reiterated management’s Commitment to tackling the menace of plagiarism and examination malpractice, assuring that the far reaching recommendations will be carefully followed.

While commending the committee for their selfless service and timely submission of the report, Prof. Akpagu stressed the need for continued partnership which he said was necessary to defeat the activities of academic fraudsters in the University.

The Vice Chancellor also used the occasion to call on all responsible members of the University Committee to shun all forms of academic fraud so as not to be caught on the wrong side of the law adding that those found culpable in any way will not be spared by his administration.

In a separate chat, the acting Chairman of the Committee Prof. Imo Ekpoh stated that the Committee’s terms of reference amongst other things is to investigate all forms of academic fraud as referred to them by the Vice Chancellor or the registrar adding that though submitted periodically, the report was the second to be submitted.

He said Committee will do its best to support management in its effort to cleanse the system from die-hard academic fraudsters even as he thanked the Vice Chancellor for the rare opportunity to serve the University.
