Reps Danzuki Empowers 1575 Constituents with N40m


No fewer than 1,575 constituents have benefited from the over N40m empowerment programme of Rt Hon Daniel Asuqou (Danzuki), a member representing Akampka/Biase constituency in the federal House of Representatives.

Out of the beneficiaries, 230 women were given N30,000 each to start-up small businesses, 230 secondary school students benefited N10,000, 110 students from tertiary institutions got N50,000 each for academic assistance while over 985 aged and physically challenged persons went home with a bag of rice each in addition to packets of Maggi, salt, six yards of wrappers and N1,000 each for transport.

Also the lawmaker dropped N100,000 in each of the 21 wards of the Akamkpa/Biase constituency for PDP executives and another N100,000 for polling units managers in each wards.

He also visited Chiefs and elders in the constituency where undisclosed amount of money among other items were presented.

Speaking, Hon. Asuquo said that empowering his constituents and humans generally gives him joy especially as he has enjoyed unflinching support from them throughout his political sojourn.

Asuquo said that "The empowerment programme is a product of Daniel Asuquo Foundation (DAF), a non governmental organization that has been running for 5years. It's a constituency project by way of reaching out to the less privileged in the society, communities and also a platform to listen to the people's needs on the areas of quick intervention.

We made it different from the previous ones in order to make greater impact on the people who have always given me positive support".

On why he empowered more women, he said that "when you empower the women, you have empowered the entire world because they have the driving force for success".

The lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Power also commissioned some constituency projects during the empowerment tour.

Some of the projects commissioned include Solar Powered Water Project in Akpet, a six block classroom in Agwagune, a three classroom block in Biakpan ward amongst others.

Also, the legislator conducted groundbreaking for the construction of a divisional Police Headquarters in Uyangha.

Explaining why he was building a Police station, the legislator said that it in a bid to forestall incessant communal crises in the area.

Some of the beneficiaries who reacted thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and promised their unalloyed support.

They appealed to the reps for more inclusive governance as well as provision of more social amenities such as rural water, rural electrification projects, police post amongst others.
