Breaking : Scanobo-Odukpani Dualization Is Done By C'River Govt - Lafarge

Amidst controversy, Lafarge Africa Limited has denied the report making the round on social media that the dualization of Scanobo/Odukpani highway is done by the company.

The Communication Officer of the Company, Mr. Inyang Inyang who was reacting to a call to clarify the controversy surrounding sponsorship of the project said that the ongoing expansion of the road is sponsored by the Cross River State government.

He however added that Lafarge was responsible for the remedial and maintenance work going on the road and not dualization as speculated on social media.

The dualization of the road has steered controversies on social media over the past few days as many commentators have accused the state government of claiming ownership of a project sponsored by Lafarge.

The controversy started when critics noticed that there were two different signposts, one from Lafarge and another from the State government claiming sponsorship of the projects.

However, the company has now clarified the issue that both the government and Lafarge are undertaking different project on the road. While the government is involved in the dualization, Lafarge is carrying out maintenance work on the road.

According to Inyang "Let me state something clearly here, Lafarge is not involved in the expansion and dualization of the Scanobo/Odukpani highway. It is done by the State government. We are only involved in the maintenance and not the expansion".
