S/East : FG Women Vocational Training Kicks Off In Ebonyi

The federal government training of Nigerian women in vocational skills kicked off today in the South Eastern region of the country.

The training tagged "Skills Up" and undertaken by the National Centre For Women Development (NCWD) is ongoing in other regions and was launched in Ebonyi State today for women from the five South Eastern States.

It will be recalled that on assumption of office, the  Director General of the agency, Barr. (Mrs) Mary Ekpere-Eta promised to initiate ideas that will lift women from poverty across the country.

Declaring the exercise which is to train instructors that will in turn train other women open, the DG reiterated the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari's government to investing in women.

She said that the programme was one of the multi-sectoral initiatives of the agency targeted at getting more women involved in more meaningful ventures that will make them independent.

While urging more women to embrace the opportunity to learn trade, she said that the initiative was to keep to the promise of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to invest in women empowerment as well as create better opportunities to lift them out of poverty.

Some of the women who spoke lauded the DG for the imitative even as they prayed that God should lead her to continue to do more for them.
