Easter : Nigerian Women Must Continue To Make Sacrifices For Families DG

Mrs. Mary Ekpere-Eta, DG, NCWD
Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), Mary Ekpere-Eta has called on women across the country to continually make sacrifices for their families.

In her Easter message to Christians, Ekpere-Eta noted that such personal sacrifices from mothers, wives and sisters  have led to many success stories from Nigerian families.

She noted that with the family being the basic unit of society, better outcomes from families ultimately results in development and economic growth.

The Director-General urged women, especially Christians to always remember the immeasurable sacrifice Jesus Christ made over two thousand years ago and the impact it still has on millions of Christians, each time they struggle with making sacrificial contributions to their families and community.

"Nigerian women often put their families, both biological and adopted groups, first. Our women are often disposed to making sacrifices to assist their children, relations and  friends to achieve their dreams. But it is not always easy for women to give, they like the biblical widow have at different times  given their all, without knowing where their next meal is coming from. I commend all the good women for giving for another's happiness and progress.

"Today, as we commemorate Christ's incomparable gift of his life for our salvation, we should also think of  mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and fathers who generously give financial and moral support for a better life for others. We should pray for God's blessings in their lives", she said.

Ekpere-Eta also called on women and Nigerians as a whole, to pray for the peace as well as the progress of the country even as she called for prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed in his push to end the insurgency in the North-East and to fight other crime that robs communities of their peace.

"Nigerian have joined Christians the world over for the sober remembrance of Christ and this is because we enjoy peace in majority of the parts of our country. We therefore should use the period of Easter to pray for the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and all other security agencies , for strength and intelligence to  stomp out criminal elements, who cause trouble in our towns and cities", she said.
