Akpagu Commended For 'Transforming' Unical


Academic Staff from the Northern Senatorial District in the University of Calabar have observed with delight and commendation the laudable achievements of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu.

In a statement in Calabar signed by the chairman, Prof. Chris Iklaki the academic staff said that they were happy in that within three years in office, Prof. Akpagu has tremendously transformed the landscape of the University, introduced new Faculties and Departments and is assiduously working towards turning the university into a reputable citadel for learning, teaching and Research, comparable to any other the global community.

They observed that, Prof. Akpagu’s networking has resulted in international collaborations and partnerships as manifest in China Scholarship Award, the German solar energy project and the Korean partnership and assistance, all of which have shored up the ranking index of the university globally.

The Northern Senatorial Academics' also noted with delight the recognitions accorded the Vice Chancellor by the various ethnic communities in the state adding that the conferment, of chieftaincy titles are indeed an acknowledgement of his relentless service to humanity.

The Academic’s staff also called on members of the University Community and the general public to continue to support him in his painstaking efforts to implement policies and programmes aimed at transforming the University of Calabar into a citadel that will bring about international best practices in teaching, learning and research.

The Northern Senatorial Districts Academic’s lauded the Vice Chancellor for the fatherly role he played in the just concluded Cross River Community cultural week, adding that his support and physical presence at the ceremonies has indeed given Cross Riverians in Unical a deeper sense of belonging.
