Reps aspirant visits Obol Lopon, promises to strengthen traditional institutions

As part of his consultation for the Abi/Yakur federal house of representatives election, aspirant, Engr. Jerome Egbe over the weekend visited Obol Ofem Ubana, the Obol Lopon of Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area to solicit his support and that of the Ugep nation for his election.

Engr. Egbe who went with a large entourage comprising of the SSA on Limestone's to the Governor, Obol Nelson Ofem and over 200 students' activists led by the world wide President of the National Association of Cross River State promised to strengthen the traditional institutions if elected to represent the constituency.

He regretted that despite the enormous influence of the traditional rulers in the constituency, they've not been given the needed support and backing to function independently.

While pledging to empower the monarchs to address land dispute crisis before it degenerate into war, he added that as reps, he'll frequently consult the chiefs so that all his projects will represent the yearnings of the people.

Egbe, the first Cross Riverian to rise to the rank of Acting President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, later proceeded to meet with all the 13 council wards of Yakurr and other stakeholders, seeking their support for his election.

Several stakeholders who remarked expressed confidence in the ability of the aspirant to give the constituency a quality representation.
