School Feeding Program: Enumerators decry Non-payment in C'River

By Frank Edima

Enumerators recruited into the NAtional Home Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP)  to enumerate pupils in schools for the federal government school feeding exercise have decried non payments of their remuneration as agreed since October last year.

According to the enumerators who took to their Whatsapp chat groups to vent their frustration, the program was meant to engage them for three months starting from October last year and that they were supposed to be paid their monthly salary at the completion of every four weeks task.

One of the enumerators selected as a supervisor on the platform lamented seriously over how badly the program has treated his group members.

He said his "annoyance is that we spend so much money going inside rural areas to get pupils enumerated and that most of us spend more than the stipulated transportation allowance given them".

Another enumerator added that "the stipulated transportation allowance was supposed to be N8,000 per week but the officials of the program reduce it to N4,600 for some weeks and N6,400 on other weeks which do not still come as at when due for the smooth engagements in the assigned tasks".

Several supervisors who are also enumerators on the program have threatened leaving the program if the agencies in charge of the feeding program no longer live up to expectations and agreement.

Recall that NHGSFP was launched in Cross River late last year with the aim of feeding school pupils within primary one to three amongst government  Primary schools.
