C'River : Prominent APC leaders absent as Owan-Enoh declares for governorship

Sen. John Owan Enoh during official governorship declaration yesterday in Ikom

Major stakeholder's of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State yesterday boycotted Senator John Owan-Enoh's official declaration for governorship race.

Owan-Enoh is currently representing the Cross River Central Senatorial District in the Senate.

Most members of the state executive committee of the party including the state chairman, Dr. Mathew Achigbe, secretary, Bishop Victor Ebong as well as the leader of the party in the state, Chief Clement Ebri were conspicuously absent at the event which took place in Ikom.

Equally, national leaders of the party including Senator Victor Ndoma Egba and the national Vice Chairman South South of the APC, Ntufam Hilliard Eta boycotted the event without any notice or solidarity messages.

Also absent at the event were prominent APC chieftains from Northern Cross River, like Rt. Hon. Paul Adah, Mr. Odey Ochicha, amongst others.

Paramount rulers from Southern and Northern Cross River were also noticeably absent.

This development, according to insider sources, is indicative of the deep divisions within the party as a result of the possible alteration of the zoning arrangement put in place by the APC in the state that guaranteed inclusiveness and ethnic unity.

Unlike other declarations where representatives from other senatorial zones presented solidarity messages, leaders from the Northern as well as the Southern senatorial zones, who were absent, neither sent representatives nor solidarity messages.
