I must fight corruption unbiased – Obono-Obla

Chairman, Special Investigative Panel for Recovery of Public Property, (SPIP), Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has reiterated his stand to pursue a noble cause in fighting corruption in the country despite unhealthy criticism from some quarters.

Obono-Obla who disclosed this during a presentation held at the University of Calabar’s post graduate seminar recently, challenged the critics to be very objective and thorough in their criticism and not to base it on witch hunt.

He also stressed that no amount of distraction can stop the anti-graft change agenda to bring sanity to the polity by exposing corrupt persons in the society.

With the paper theme: “Place of Anti-Graft Agencies in Nigeria Change Agenda,” Obono-Obla drived home his points by enumerating the merits of anti graft agencies and need for the agencies to carry on their duty unbiased.

According to Obla, “We may be fair to say that despite all the antics of the corrupt minds to blackmail the chairman of the SPIP, the present administration’s effort to fight corruption is still ongoing to actualise its agenda.

With the establishments of various anti-corruption agencies, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has done much to put in place strategies and polices to block loopholes and leakages through which unscrupulous officials use to siphon public funds”.
